ATTENTION: Due to low registration we have cancelled the 2020 HawkWatch 5K Virtual Run. Registered runners please watch your email for additional information. Any registered runners who submit a completed time will still receive a gift in recognition of their achievement. Join us for the 16th Annual HawkWatch 5K & do it your own way this year! Register online for this fun, virtual run then complete a 5K run (3.1 miles) anywhere you like. You can run a track, run in your own neighborhood, or head out to Hitchcock Nature Center to run our trails. Wherever you choose to run is fine with us! Complete your run & report your time by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th to complete your HawkWatch 5K challenge.

Online pre-registration is required to participate. Cost for this event is $20.00 per runner & will support the Hitchcock HawkWatch raptor monitoring program as well as other programs & improvements at Hitchcock Nature Center.  Runners of all ages are welcome to join in the fun! All runners submitting a final race time by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th will receive a commemorative patch & sticker to celebrate their success, you will also be entered into a drawing to win a free, two night stay in one of Hitchcock Nature Center’s cozy camping cabins.  You may complete your 5K anytime following your registration & completed run times must be submitted by email to chad.kunze@pottcounty-ia.gov by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th for you to receive your commemorative patch & sticker.

Due to COVID-19 the format for this annual event has changed. We will not be offering a set race course at Hitchcock Nature Center, runners are responsible for picking their own course in the location of their choice & logging their distance & time for submission by email. All race times are submitted on the honor system & there will be no prizes for age & gender divisions. All racers receive the same commemorative prizes & are entered into the random drawing for a two night camping cabin stay. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283.

Cancellation Policy

Guests may cancel their reservation for a full refund up to 1 week (7 days) prior to the program date by calling 712-545-3283 and speaking with staff directly. Cancellations received less than 1 week (7 days) in advance of the event will not be refunded. Fees for programs cancelled by PCC due to weather or other circumstances will be refunded.

Runners who do not submit a completed race time by email before 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17th will not recieve a race completion prize, be entered into our grand prize drawing or be elibible for a refund.
