Explore some of the common rocks, minerals, and fossils that can be found in western Iowa. Together we’ll learn all about the different types of rocks and fossils that are all around us. We’ll discover the surprising ways that many of these fascinating stones and minerals came to be where they are today. For thousands of years, people have used stones to create tools. Together, we’ll look at the different ways that people in the past went about creating those tools. Finally, by examining fossils and mineralized bones, we’ll discover what sorts of ancient animals once called Iowa home.
Cost for this event is $4.00 per person for children ages 3 and over and covers your park entry fee. Accompanying adults and children under 3 are free -- children under 3 do not need a reservation.
