The Pollinator Alliance of the Heartland is hosting their first ever "Milkweed and Cookies" Native Plant Giveaway and Vendor Fair event. Fall is a great time to plant a native plant garden. It is also when the monarch butterfly is flying south for its migration to Mexico to over winter. Help celebrate pollinators like the monarch and the native plants they need at this event.

This event will be two parts: a native plant giveaway program and a vendor fair. The day of the event you will be split into two groups: "sun" and "shade" based on your garden request. One group will participate in a seminar to learn more about your plants and how to successfully garden with native species, while the other group browses the vendor fair. After the first hour, the groups will switch.

The first 100 households to sign-up are eligible to participate in the Milkweed and Cookies event. Please only one registration per household. The plant giveaway is limited to 100 households, but all members of your household are invited to the event. There will be activities at the vendor fair for all ages, so children are welcome to attend! Cookies and refreshments will be available during the day. There will also be a raffle with prizes during the vendor fair.

This event is free to attend, however, a $20 fee will be charged to reserve your spot for the day. This fee will be fully refunded when you show up on September 16th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. Please plan to attend the full two-hour program. The seminar portion is estimated to be approximately 30 minutes with time for questions and answers and then time to pick up your plants. The vendor fair portion is allotted a one-hour time to browse and participate in activities.

2023 programming is sponsored by the Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation.
