As we work to clear an area that will soon be planted with native prairie seed, we have found ourselves with an excess of timber that we would love to go to good use! Take advantage of Pottawattamie Conservation's Public Firewood Pickup available throughout the month of January to build your winter firewood stockpile.
Available wood is primarily white mulberry, Siberian elm, and green ash ranging from about 6” – 16” in diameter. Most of the wood is green/not dry.
Please note: All timber will need to be collected, cut, or hauled at your own risk.
In order to gather firewood, participants must first:
- Register online through the link provided, and
- Contact Natural Resource Specialist Chad Graeve at chad.graeve@pottcounty-ia.gov or 402-504-0182 to receive directions before gathering firewood.
