Come spend an evening with passionate birder, Nic Salick, and learn about The Nature Conservancy’s work in helping to preserve and restore habit for the Sandhill Cranes in Nebraska. Each spring, for approximately a month, over half a million of these majestic birds gather at the Platte River basin in Central Nebraska, creating one of the planet's most remarkable migrations. Delve into the world of one of the oldest living bird species and discover the fascinating details of their remarkable migration.

Facilitator: Nic Salick has spent his career in conservation, much of it focused on improving understanding of wildlife, habitat, and their intersection with people. His work in field ornithology has spanned across grasslands throughout the country. Formerly a private lands wildlife biologist in the Loess Hills and Missouri River region, Nic worked with landowners and farmers to incorporate wildlife considerations into land management and improve habitat. Currently, Nic is a Development Officer for the Nature Conservancy in Nebraska, working with members and supporters to advance conservation efforts. Even when not at work, he has nature on the brain. He enjoys hiking the Loess Hills, birding, hunting behind his trusty dog Greta, and reading exploration and adventure books.

Cancellations received less than 1 week (7 days) in advance of the event will not be refunded. Fees for programs canceled by Pottawattamie Conservation due to weather or other circumstances will be fully refunded.
