In addition to being beautiful, properly placed trees shade your home in summer and block the wind in winter. you may order up to two trees. Trees must be picked up on Saturday, September 20th, between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Harrah's Casino, 1 Harrah's Blvd., Council Bluffs.
Any trees not picked up by 10:30am on distribution day will be considered a donation to Pottawattamie County Conservation. In the event that additional trees are available on distribution day, they will be released for purchase at 8:30am on a first-come/first-served basis or until all trees are sold.
Trees are non-refundable, exchange cannot be accepted, and plant material is under no warranty and/or guarantee. For maximum energy savings, plant shade trees within 30 feet of the east and west of your home. Plant evergreens as a windbreak on the north and west of your home. Contact Iowa One Call at 1-800-292-8989 or online at least three business days before you dig. They’ll send someone to locate underground utility lines for you. This is a free service.
A total of 215 trees are available to purchase. Shade trees are five to eight feet tall. Conifers and ornamentals are two to four feet tall.
Purchases can only be made online, and forms must be completed by September 14th.

Sponsored by the Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation, the Leave Your Mark Tree Scholarship Program was created to honor Mark Shoemaker for his contributions to conservation and public service, and his commitment to native tree plantings in Pottawattamie County and helps fund scholarships to cover the purchase of native trees for Pottawattamie County, IA residents. This program is open to all residents of Pottawattamie County with a priority placed on serving those who are looking to accomplish a memorial planting. Scholarship applications are made available once a year. Scholarships are limited to 20 trees per year and will be awarded on a first come, first served basis. Any non-memorial scholarship requests will be awarded if there are scholarships available once all memorial scholarship requests have been fulfilled. Trees are provided by the Iowa DNR and Trees Forever through their annual Residential Tree Program.
