Archaeology Roadshow

All participants must pre-register online. Walk-ins will not be accepted for this event. Thank you for understanding!

Hitchcock Nature Center and Red Barn Schoolhouse present Archaeolgy Roadshow!  Join us for an engaging all-ages event where former Nebraska State Archaeologist Rob Bozell will give an introduction to local archaeology, sharing insights into the history beneath our feet. Bring your own found objects—rocks, tools, fossils, and more—for a special "show and tell." Rob will help identify and explain the significance of your discoveries. Come explore the past, one artifact at a time!

Registration is required. All ages welcome!

Rob Bozell brings over 30 years of expertise in Nebraska Archeology and the history of the Great Plains. In addition to his extensive tenure in public service, Rob is lending his expertise to the Red Barn Schoolhouse's ongoing Working Groups that strive to integrate and collaborate with subject matter experts for 2026 lesson planning and curriculum.

Red Barn Schoolhouse is a new public charter K-5 school in Crescent, Iowa. The school reflects community values for academic excellence grounded in the Iowa State Standards, outdoor learning, and arts integrated applications. Student projects in science and creative explorations will be guided by teachers in team with naturalists, artists, and community experts. Through  inquiry, hands-on exploration, artistic expression, and nature study, students will learn through an integrated process and discover a new-found confidence and desire to become lifetime learners. Opening Fall 2026. For more information: www.redbarnschoolhouse.org
