Join us Tuesday, August 16th at 7:00 p.m. for the fourth hike of the 2022 Hitch Hike series! Meet up with the group at the Old Lincoln Highway Deck at the Hitchcock Nature Center Campground to begin this walk down the Hohneke Trail to Oak Avenue and the Bunker Hill Loop. Explore the northern section of the park and view a remnant of the original Old Lincoln Highway.

Pre-registration is not required for this event, although free-will donations will be gratefully accepted and used to fund additional free and low-cost public programming at your county parks.

Participants must purchase a $5.00 per vehicle daily pass with exact change or check at the front gate paybox, or have a valid Pottawattamie Conservation Membership to enter the park. Click here to purchase a Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation park membership.

Weather permitting. Please meet up with the group at the Old Lincoln Highway Deck at the Hitchcock Nature Center Campground.

Pets: Well-behaved dogs are permitted to accompany their owners but must be leashed at all times. Please be sure to pick up and properly dispose of all pet waste throughout the hike and anytime you venture with your pup. Please note: You may be asked to remain toward the end of the group if there is a large number of participants and disruptive pets may be asked to leave the group.

About Our 2022 Hitch Hike Series:

Hitch Hikes are designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock Nature Center as well as the Loess Hills. The series begins with a moderate level hike and will get progressively more challenging as we build up to a 3+ mile difficult hike in September. Whether you join us for one or all hikes in the series, you'll build a deeper connection to the natural world around you, learn to identify native plants and wildlife, and have fun!

Water bottles, bug spray, & sunblock are all recommended. Please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear.

2022 programming is sponsored by the Pottawattamie Conservation Foundation.
