Area homeschool students and educators are invited to join us at Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek for another fun filled program, Homeschool in the Hills: Nocturnal Animals on Tuesday, November 10th at 5:00 p.m.. 

Get to know the animals that spend most of their waking hours in the dark! These special animals are called nocturnal & have special adaptations that allow them to be just as active at night as we are during the day. 

Participants arrival begins at 5:00 p.m. but participants must arrive no later than 5:30 p.m. to participate.

Online pre-registration is required & walk-in participants will not be admitted. Cost for this event is $3.00 per person for children age 3 and over, accompanying adults and children under 3 are free, children under 3 do not need a reservation. For questions not answered online please call 712-545-3283.

These programs are delivered in a flexible format with both guided and self guided units and are designed for elementary school students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Each program will begin with a set of hands-on learning activities to introduce learners to our topic for the day and then a field session to view nature first-hand.

While this event is family friendly it is not pet friendly, please leave your canine friends at home. Service animals are always welcome. Please meet at the Loess Hills Lodge. Weather Permitting

*In the event of cancellation due to inclement weather participants will be notified via the email address provided during registration.

Due to COVID-19 the format of this program has been adjusted. 

  • 6-foot distance will be maintained between individuals/family groups
  • Masks requested while inside and when distancing is impossible outside
  • This program will be held primarily outdoors
  • Staff will wear masks when 6-foot distance is not possible or indoors
  • Maximum registration has been reduced
  • Participants must sign a participation waiver upon arrival

Cancellation Policy

Guests may cancel their reservation for a full refund up to 1 week (7 days) prior to the program date by calling 712-545-3283 and speaking with staff directly. Cancellations received less than 1 week (7 days) in advance of the event will not be refunded. Fees for programs cancelled by PCC due to weather or other circumstances will be refunded.
