Hitchcock Nature Center - Area homeschool students and educators are invited to join us at Hitchcock Nature Center in Honey Creek for our final session in a series of field trips focusing on the world of citizen science.

Citizen science is a system of public programs designed to involve budding scientists of all ages in a variety of fields to collect data for scientific use. With numerous projects spanning the entire year there is something for everyone in the world of citizen science. We aim to explore a selection of programs and help you find ways to get involved with the broader scientific community.

Join us on Wednesday, September 2nd and get involved with one of the most well known citizen science projects, MonarchWatch! Learn to identify monarch butterflies and safely capture, tag, and release them as they pass through our area on their way to Mexico during their annual migration. For more information on MonarchWatch please visit www.monarchwatch.org. We will also take this opportunity to introduce you to the Hitchcock HawkWatch, an annual science project held at Hitchcock Nature Center. Learn more about migrating species of raptors and our intrepid team of volunteers that spend fall and early winter watching, counting, and reporting them.
